At the moment, when I click on Recent Posts there are two of them by Saint Louis Surveyor entitled "Best Day or Worst". One of those has zero replies and the other has several replies. Did he accidentally double post and not have a way to delete the first? Silly cows need to know.
I tried to merge these posts into one post, and it worked, but it displayed the original post twice in the merged post. I wonder if it did this because people had liked both posts before I merged them into one post? I am afraid now if I delete one of the double posts, the "likes" associated with that particular post will disappear. Perhaps Wendell can enlighten us later today.
Edit......I tried a couple of test posts. When you merge two threads and you have two identical posts in the two threads, you still end up with two identical posts in the new merged thread. It is an easy thing for me to delete one of the identical posts in the thread, but the problem is that when the posts were separate, different people liked each post. If I delete one of the posts I suspect the likes associated with that post will disappear, and I don't want to deny someone a like they received.
Sadly, you can't delete the first one or it takes the entire thread with it. So I had to sacrifice the 4 likes on the 2nd post. I liked it myself, so only 3 more to even him up again. 🙂
Could you just "merge", and leave a comment, note, "merged to...." or similar? Leaving original duplicate post with just your administration comments.
Probably lock it?
That'd preserve the status quo I imagine.
Yeah, I think next time we'll just lock the duplicate.
