As promised, the Activity Feed (homepage) now only shows activity relevant to you (when you are logged in). To more specifically explain:
While logged in, members will only see activity posts from their own timeline, their connections, members they follow, groups they joined, forum discussions they subscribed to, and posts they are mentioned in.
Previously, everyone saw all activity that occurred everywhere on the entire website, whether it was something they followed or not. I had it set that way because I knew on day one there'd be nothing in the activity feed for anyone. Now that there is more activity and things are rolling along nicely, it makes sense to me to flip that switch.
As much as I hate Facebook, this was one of its great features for years. You only saw content that was relevant to you. That has changed at Facebook, what with all their ads, boosted posts, and suggested content, so the experience there is rather hectic now. But at RPLS.com, our ads are more fixed in the side columns and we don't have boosted or suggested posts; so you only see stuff that is relevant to your account.
All that said, if you aren't seeing a lot of new posts in the Activity Feed, perhaps you need to connect and/or follow more people, participate in more forums, or join more groups. 😉
Is there a way to see all recent activity whether i have a connection to it or not (like the activity page was doing)?
You know, after tinkering around with it, I think it was better the way it was. Mainly because you can click the filters at the top to change it anyway. 🙂
