Dave, I'm lucky to get 3000 feet through the woods with 1 or 4 watt.?ÿ Does 35 watt do any better??ÿ My understanding is you need to put it up in the air or use repeater rather than get more power.?ÿ Could be wrong.
Duane, I don't feel like I can be of a lot of specific help to you on this one.?ÿ I will say that 35w doesn't seem to pack the extra punch that you would think compared to 1w, for example.
I went for a long time with degrading performance until I sent my radio in for repair.?ÿ Then it worked a whole lot better again.
I find the variables to be difficult to get a handle on but if I had to guess I might be getting 2-3 times more range than you indicated but that is truly a WAG.?ÿ I will say that most job site conditions find me using one base setup with generally continuous reception.?ÿ I work in a lot of hills and I could be wrong but I doubt that most sites are limited by the height of my antenna because I feel that would be moot considering the terrain.
I will try to pay more attention to these details in the future.
