I have an older Trimble R10 (model 1) that I frequently use as a base with the internal 3G modem. The rovers are newer R10-2 models that have propoint and RTX subscriptions, so i don't want to use one of them as base, and actually I am not sure what internal modems they have.
With the upcoming AT&T "sunset" of 3G service, I need to come up with an alternative. I do have an external modem that I could use, and connect to it from the R10 over wifi, but that is adding an extra piece of equipment that needs to be weather protected. I currently use the external modem when I run my Alloy as a base, because that has a pelican case anyway so it is protected?ÿ
I am curious if anyone has used the iG9 (sold by iGage and made by CHC) as a base for Trimble R10 rovers, using the internal cell modem, NTrip, RTCM3. I had tried a different model iG8 I think it was) for a couple of days but had modem connectivity issues, which may have been the actual unit, not sure if it was a problem with any other units since I only had the one unit for a few days to test.?ÿ
