All,

The circular bubble level on my T-16 tribrach has leaked/dried out and I'm looking for a replacement. I already contacted Robert at Antiquesurveying.com but he doesn't have any in stock and doesn't know of a source.

Does anyone happen to have one they are willing to part with? Or perhaps know of a source?

I guess as a last resort I could ask if anyone has a good servicable tribrach they are willing to part with...

As always, thanks in advance!

Brian

I'm assuming you've contacted APE and Midwest and the other survey suppliers for a replacement bubble. Maybe they can service them.

I guess you want to stick with green paint??? Surely you're not using a t-16 with any regularity right?

Kris,

No, I haven't (yet) tried APE. Guess I should try Mohave too.

No, this T-16 hasn't been used since (my guess) the late '90s. It is more of a conversation/display piece now. I took it out of the display case the other day and noticed the level was dry. The theodolite is in otherwise excellent condition, and this dry level just bothers me...

I'm not stuck on green, just looking for a functional replacement that won't require any mods to the tribrach. I guess I could suck it up and just do the rough leveling with my iPhone... 🙂

I have one of those tribrachs around here (somewhere), although I only use it to setup (mount) my chronograph these days. The lack of an optical plummet makes it pretty limited in application (unless you have a T-16, or an optical plummet adapter, which I do).

You could probably “rebuild” the level vial yourself, but it would be tricky I suppose. Better to find a new-old-stock, or used one somewhere.

Try Earl Dudley Associates - I know at one time they had a lot of Wild parts.

Ditto, call the Birmingham office, am sure they will have it, and might just have the new old stock part.

Give these guys a call. Ken or Bob, they can probably hook you up.

Well, I gave them a call and unfortunately they don't. Seems these particular levels are about as scarce as unicorn eggs.
