TOPCON 802A-R (ROBOTIC) Total Station:

• 2002/2003 model (Purchased 9/15/2002)
• 30X magnification
• 3” accuracy / 1” minimum reading
• Dual-axis compensation

Package Includes:

• Instrument
• Case
• Rain cover
• Tool kit and cloth
• BC-27BR battery charger
• 2 batteries (BT-56Q) – Last Re-Cell 10/2011 (Good Health)
• Sun scope and lens cover
• Hirose to DB9 data collector cable
• 12-Volt power adapter with cigarette plug
• Hayes Bantam X Long-Range Bluetooth Radio (Parani S10)
• RC2 communication and remote control system
• Instrument and RC2 manuals

This instrument was purchased new in September of 2002 and has been used only by me since new (self-employed). It is a very accurate and reliable instrument. Everything in the package is in good working order. I would rate the instrument itself as a 9 on visual condition. The case has normal exterior wear as does the RC2 remote.

The Bantam radio will give you 1,000’ of range to connect to another parani, or long-range data collector. Add that and a prism and you will have a complete robotic setup. The RC2 can also offer communication with the proper cable and data collection driver.

Price: $4,300.00 + Shipping

See images below and thanks for looking...

Hi Matthew

I think that was the last or next to last series that had a good optics scope. After that, maybe Topcon decided with nobody routinely standing behind a robot scope, why continue with the high quality optics ? So they really degraded the scope.

What hand held do you use to run this setup ? I guess that is the big question.

Thanks for any info.

Yes, the optics on this unit are rather good and probably the best I ever used...

I run this with the other half of the Bantam radio setup bluetoothed to a CHC LT30 running Calrson SurvCE 4.X.

Initially (2002-2007) ran TDS Survey Pro up to version 4.4.0, then switched to Carlson 2, then 3, now 4, all which run it just fine.

Matt

Sorry for my lack of background; what is a CHC LT30?

Also, do you mind saying what you are replacing it with ?

Thanks again !

Other than standard cleaning and calibration service, how hard is it to get replacement parts such as servos for this series unit?

That Topcon DS series looks capable. Was wondering what the advertisement means regarding their use of the words "capable" and "upgradable".

They call it hybrid capable and RC5 capable (guess that means GPS & their whistle-up device sitting as usual on top of the pole-prism).

Then they call their "auto tracking" upgradable. Do you know what they mean ?

Are you planning on keeping the Chinese controller from your old setup ?

Thanks again

I read on this website that 800 series parts are not available from manufacturer, so need to rely on after-market for parts.

I could be wrong, but I believe that Troy at Deaton's Geotronics has a supplier that he can get some parts for these instruments. I would contact him for specifics.
