Bought this book when I was studying for the exam. Still in excellent condition! Available used on Amazon for $235 +/-, but make me an offer. I don't need it sitting on the shelf.
That's a great book. But I must point out that there is a newer version, same author, different title. It's now Surveying Solved Problems for the FS and PS Exams.
Good to know. Any offers can be adjusted based on the new info posted by Mark!
I'd like to trade Holy Cow for it.
If that's not enough, maybe I can throw in payden cash, and kent. (grin)
Seriously, the merger of geodesy, and surveying, are happening at a frightful pace.
Just look at ebay. Transits, and theodolites are dirt cheap.
Keeping pace, is a serious issue, facing all surveyors.

Nate,
I agree with you 100% as far as things changing by the day, but without a sound understanding of the basics, and the methodologies that were used to set the boundaries we are retracing, all the technology in the world won't make you a good surveyor. We are a unique profession in that we have to combine so many different aspects into our decisions.
My library grows at a steady pace, as I am trying to make myself as well rounded as possible. I am enrolled at Great Basin College to finish my 4 year degree, and will be supplementing that knowledge with my library of boundary retracement, survey mathematics, etc. I hope to find an afternoon where I can log my library into a spreadsheet to post. I have the book listed above, as well as the new one that Mark mentions. Both have their place on my shelf. I have to be able to perform when the data collector batteries die and I have those last few stakes to set.
I talked with some licensed surveyors at last week's TAPS conference, and we were talking about 4 year programs, recent graduates, etc., and they were extremely disappointed in the skill sets that these graduates had, and the lack of fundamental understanding of boundary principles, and that they thought the math was gospel. Several mentioned the fact that a few of them struggled set up an instrument.
We have a lot of work to do to protect our profession, and it starts with us.
Just my humble opinion.
Do you still have this 1001 Surveying Problems book, and if so would you take $100 for it?
wow! ?ÿNew starting at $588.67, used starting at $224.99. ?ÿ?ÿ ??ÿ

edit:
That's something; Amazon showed up underselling brick and mortar retail outlets. like Barnes & Noble, hurting their operations, now Barnes & Noble seem to be underselling them. ?ÿ ??ÿ

You will note that the book is "currently unavailable for shipment" at BN, making the attractive price irrelevant.?ÿ Please check out my post above regarding the version of the book that is current and actually available, and at a semi-reasonable price.
I used 1001 Solved 20 years ago and was glad to have it. But there has been a lot of water under the bridge since then.?ÿ ?ÿ ?ÿ?ÿ
Usually there's a small white emblem on the front or back cover of most paperbacks listing the price in; Canadian beaver or moose dollars, or $US.
I can't find that on my 2nd ed. paperback. I know if it had three digits to the left of the decimal point, there's no way I could have afforded that at the bookstore.
I have 1 too, I might sell one day at an attractive price. I hardly cracked it when I was studying.
