When I first bought this set-up, it stated I had 5,000 points available.

That was plenty for me because I use Carlson on a Jett for large topo jobs, but then one day it stated I had only 2,500 available after I erased all the jobs in it.

Now I have five little jobs in it. One is 345 points, the rest are under 100 each.

Now I'm getting the message that I have 869 points available.

Is there a way to return to 5,000 point availablility?

TDS Is A Point Hog

If you have a point 1 in a file and a point 500 it considers 2-499 are also in use.

SMI on the other hand would consider that there were only 2 points in that file.

First suggestion, check out your point numbering.

Thanks, Paul

I always get a message to the effect "Do you really want to skip 1001 points?" if I accidently number a point with too many digits.

Those jobs sounds like they are going to really bog down your Commodore 64 with AutoCAD 1.0. Better upgrade to 20 MB.

Sorry.

That's funny Greg. I still use my HP48, I call it my "chalkboard" that way I can move stuff around, change things until I like how it works, then erase all of it after I put the "good" info into the DC.

Yeah, and you better hope its a straight line instead of a curve between those two points because thats what smi is gonna think it is.:-)

The HP48 itself has 128k of internal memory and that should hold 5,000 points itself.

The amount of points you can have will depend upon the size of your memory card.

It will also depend upon the available space on the memory card.

Any type of file will take up space on the card. That includes raw data, cut sheets, route and grade profiles.

An HP48 with SMI v5 data collection card with a 1mb card will hold 100,000+ points total or in one job for pts w/notes and elevations and raw data file

An HP48 with SMI V7 construction card with 2mb card will hold 90,000± points total or in one job and allocates each file for maximum data (pts, notes, elev, description, raw data, cut sheets, profile, etc)

A TDS v4.1 cogo will hold 120 pts per job (not sure how large memory card is)

Would doing a complete reset and reloading TDS help?
