Having spent many years along the Texas-Louisiana boundary, The Evolution of the Texas-Louisiana Boundary by John Evans & Jim Tiller dwell deep into every aspect.
The book is about the history involved in the creation and the different surveys made to locate and monument the boundary and contains most every picture available on the subject.
Two years ago they gave a very good seminar on the shores of Caddo Lake and have since done the same in Tyler, Texas.
I hope they are still offering the seminar as it is equally informative to surveyors in Texas and Louisiana and all others that survey.

Just glad that these two authors have put all this together in one volume.
There was a story somewhere about the last stone monument marking the Republic of Texas and the United States located somwhere along the Louisiana border. The story mentioned it was some sort of secret since the remaining ones had all disppeared.
Here's a link to a supposedly original monument of that type.

Thanks for sharing. I was unable to attend either seminar due to scheduling conflicts. I seem to never be available during all the good ones in our area. Will be interested to read the book
