Jerry is about the only active current Nebraska resident that I recall here. There are possibly some others who are licensed, though. Let's try this...............

Harvey's Instructions for County Surveyors is the text you are looking for.

Thanas for the advice munt. What is the test like? I'm nervous. I've never worked in NE.

Some things I'm vague on after reading all the laws, AG opinions etc....

Are section lines all row even if no road exists? I read that the commission can open one if need be.

Also do I read right, only the county surveyor can re establish a section or qtr corner? Other licensed surveyors cant?

It's been a long time; I didn't get my license in NE; but I seem to remember, this was the case.

That's the way it was when I left in 1990; corners established by the GLO. Another licensed surveyor can, but they need to be deputized by the county surveyor. We established several corners, with the help of the county surveyor, during the 15 years I worked there. It was a big help to us; things were done right and thorough records were made.

There used to be several posters here, from Nebraska, but I haven't seen them in a long time. I tried a search and didn't come up with any. Maybe if we could sort members by Country; State/Provence, that might be nice...:smarty:

Exam is given in the State Land Surveyor's Office, 4 hours. You will probably be the only one taking it at your time as they schedule the exam when you can meet. If I remember right it's around 20 essay questions, but you will need that 4 hours to properly answer them. Only really needed a calculator for 1 or 2 of those. After the exam the State Land Surveyor will discuss the exam with you and how you did.

Read the Harvey book and study up on accretion surveys if you don't have much experience with those. Basically everything listed under "instructions & guides" found HERE will be on the exam. The interview portion is really just going over the exam with the State Surveyor. It's a fairly informal process.

Thanks. I only have 1 more state to get, and it's a take home test. Hope it won't be too rough.
