Perhaps he is British.

When I took the exam, there were similar almost outdated technology questions on there. If I recall correctly, there were questions pertaining to storage media that were no longer in practical use at the time.
That particular section of the exam material probably would be the most difficult to keep current as the pace of change is so rapid in relation to how often the exam content is updated.
"Why Should A Land Surveyor Need To Know About These Things"
Remember, we're talking about the FS/SIT exam - just like the FE/EIT for engineers - usually taken the final semester of college or university study. Matter of fact, I know some engineering programs actually require students to pass the FE prior to receiving their degrees in engineering. All that aside, those 'Fundamental' NCEES exams are built around the fact that most test takers would be, or are required to be, degree holders. Whether or not a degree should be required (for surveying) is another subject.
Did any one take the P.S. in Oct? What did you think about it? The off the wall FEMA questions suprised me to say the least
Don't forget...
that you placed your signature on the line where it says I promise not to discuss exam material. As a general discussion topic, ok, but when you start talking about specific questions, you are looking for trouble. This is a public forum; you never know who is lurking.

I took the PS and actually feel very good about how I did.. It was my third attempt 🙁
The PS exam deals with a combination of professional practice and field experience. The majority of my experience is in the office, this is what has hurt me while taking the exam the two times prior. I have studied a book by Robert Keen called Land Surveying Law. This book is absolutely fantastic! It explains most of Brown's principles in a consider and easy to understand manner.
The questions regarding FEMA were pretty straight forward, as were the questions on ALTA/ACSM Standards. I honestly think that this time around the exam favored those who have more experience in the office rather than the field.
The books I actually used as reference during the exam were:
Land Surveying Law, Robert Keen
Elementary Surveying, latest edition
Land Reference Manual
Blacks Law Dictionary
Manual of Surveying Instructions, 2009 BLM
Definitions of Surveying and Associated Terms
Miscellaneous notes

Nick,
If that is the worse mistake you make today, it's been a pretty good day. Worry not.
Have a great week.
