I just want to publicize this upcoming conference, because since it and the previous six were all in Europe it is likely that very few in the US are aware of its existence.

http://ingeo2017.lnec.pt/

It will be held in Portugal (all of the previous conferences were in eastern Europe) in mid October. I will be there.

As a retiree, I frequently receive notices of events like these. While I have an interest in the topic and have never been to Portugal, I no longer receive funding for such trips.

I hope the event organizers have plans to post papers and posters to a publically available web site. Groups like FIG have made such information for their events available for years. They are a great resource. See: http://www.fig.net/resources/proceedings/fig_proceedings/fig2017/index.htm for their 2017 Conference in Helsinki, Finland.

BTW, does anyone have recommendations for a good hotel in Helsinki?

Cheers,

DMM

FWIW, I neglected to note that the site page posted by Mr. Hamilton states the following:

All papers presented at INGEO Conferences are in FIG Library and may be downloaded from http://fig.net/resources/proceedings/

I look forward to reading the papers.

When I went to Helsinki in May/June I stayed at Finlandia Park Hotel. It was not in the downtown area, but was an easy walk to the train which goes from the airport to the main station. Not a lot around there, but it was a decent place. I got it as part of an air/hotel deal on travelocity.

So, anyone on the board going to INGEO? I really wish they would have combined it with INTERGEO, but they are just far enough apart in time that I can't go to both. But I will be at INGEO.

As GeeOddMike mentioned, the papers will be on the FIG website. But, nothing like going in person and interacting with others doing the same kind of work.
