I will be instructing a class to prepare students for the CST-1 exam. As I am from a colonial metes and bounds state, I know little about the PLSS. Anyone have any ideas on materials for this situation? I could use some help with the subdivision of quads and sections, and the subsequent deed calls for the same. Any favorite You Tube videos on the PLSS?
Thanks in advance,
Paul

This pretty well sums it up:

Enjoy! 😉

For the CST-1 you don't need to get too deep in the weeds; everything they need to know is probably on Wikipedia. My Level 1 study guide has a description in the Surveying history of what it is, when and where it began, that Jefferson implemented it, etc. As far as the nuts and bolts of it I use the attached.
