For CFedS and CFedS trainees: The top of the CFedS website home page has this banner that was posted earlier this evening.

The cfeds.org site is undergoing construction. As of October 1, 2021, we will temporarily be unable to accept any new orders or registrations. If you are currently enrolled in the CFedS Program or taking Continuing Education, you should complete your quizzes by October 29 to avoid impacts from the transition. The cfeds.org site may temporarily be unavailable beginning on October 29, 2021, at midnight EST. If you have any questions please reach out to Tasha Huhta, the CFedS Program Manager, at thuhta@blm.gov.

It's still down, with zero response from the program manager.?ÿ Does anyone know the status of this thing?

My registration expired right after the site went down and even though I have all my continuing education done, I'm worried my license will lapse simply because I can't get into the website to pay the renewal fee.

@allen-wrench?ÿ

Could you go the old-fashioned route and mail a check to them?

@allen-wrench Yeah, it's lame.?ÿ For what it's worth, worst case scenario, they'll charge you a $75 late fee (been through that before).?ÿ I was planning to do my continuing ed right before the site went down so I'm delayed on that.

I take some comfort in the fact that my expired CFedS certification is worth exactly as much as an active CFedS certification in the marketplace...

@allen-wrench?ÿ

You could try emailing the Tasha Huhta at the BLM to see if she has any info or help for you. Shes the Cadastral Training Coordinator for CFedS.?ÿ I emailed her a little while back inquiring about the program.

thuhta@blm.gov or cfedstc@cfeds.org

@notsomuch Possibly, but the website has essentially vanished and the only contact they list won't respond anymore.?ÿ I'd have to do a bit of phone tag to find someone to help.

@horseshoes-handgrenades She responded in the first days of the website being down, but once it ran past the due date for it to be back online, she quit responding.

A good friend told me yesterday that a new "temporary" flavor of the CFedS site would soon be online. It is now up.

Those needing certification renewal and CEUs can check the site for information on renewal. The new site states that folks will be afforded a grace period. My renewal is up at the end of next month. I wasn't able to process my renewal before the site went offline because CFedS only allows renewals within a 90 day window before the renewal lapsing.

With a little patience, it is projected that a fully functional CFedS website will be back up and running sometime before the end of January.

@allen-wrench My bet is that the email address "disappeared" along with the website, not that the CFedS Program Manager decided to stop responding just because she wanted to.

Patience.
