Anyone ever notice the approximate formula for the area of a quadrilateral on Page 112 of Wattles "Land Survey Descriptions"?
"If two diagonally opposite angles are within 4å¡ of 90å¡, the area in acres can be found by (ab+cd)0.0000115; it will be too great by 3 parts in 1000."
(0.0000115 is approximately the reciprocal of 86,000 in case you like to divide instead of multiply.)
