online and can't seem to find the thread. Some people had recommended a few good sites and I was really hoping to get started today. If anyone can recommend a good site or a good particular course.

I am in VA/NC and so not really interested in any public lands seminars.

Thanks.

Search for Larry P. here.
He is a 'major playa' in that CEU biz and he is in your area.
I think his company is called Land Surveyors Workshop.

Other than that, the individual state societies and boards usually post about CEU programs in their states.

ohhh Online

disregard my last post

I have used pdhonline and I have preferred it over red vector

PDH ONLINE

I did standards and ethics a few years back from red vector and I was not impressed by the course material.

I get my PDH's from people or associations here in Texas.
Not too familiar about what the NC or VA boards like for providers.
From what I hear at this site or RPLS, the boards do not like Larry's videos
or pdHONLINE's courses. PDHONLINE pays people to write courses, then scrubs
the examinations but uses the same course study materials. The author gets
screwed and pdhonline makes all of the money. Surveyors in Texas tell me that
the on-line people lost their records making a mess of their records during
an audit. I have run into on-line people who did not even know the answers
or could not answer questions.

This doesn't help you for today, but the day before every quarterly Board meeting VAS offers 8 hours of classes. That is in addition to the classes offered at the annual meeting.

The man you are looking for is Chip Richardson. He is a former president of the VAS and still very much involved with the VAS. That's who I recommend for questions like this. Not sure if he uses this forum or not though. I would be of more help if I could, but just got licensed in May. Haven't had to do any CE yet, and prefer to take a study break before thinking about for myself.

Not true that any boards had an issue with my videos specifically. There are some states that do not like videos in general. I tend to agree that the quality of learning that can be obtained from watching a video in your own home or office is far less than could be obtained in person. But that is my own personal observation and bias.

There is one state that made a effort last year to greatly reduce the ability of their licensees to get credit via video presentation. I did note with a raised eyebrow that one of the members of that board spends a great deal of time teaching live seminars and none (of which I am aware) on prerecorded videos. Frankly their whole issue seemed targeted at cutting down on options for their licensees so that board member could make more profit.
