Topo survey for road safety improvements on an arterial route in the hills above Christchurch
“Topo survey for road safety improvements…”
The road looks safe enough. The shoulders, not so much.
Sometimes there is no other place to setup…
Ran a traverse for 25 miles down this river doing sections every few 1000 feet, most setups were in the middle of the stream. Very little road access. GPS every couple of stations when we could get good sky. No real problems except one day we could hear a thunderstorm off in the distance and then a flash flood came down, you could hear a roar approaching. Water came up about 5 feet in a few minutes. I put the instrument and tripod into the canoe and rode it out.
“Gotta do what you gotta do”
Your canoe reminds me of the 18ft Quachita lake canoe that I had in the 70s and 80s, a wonderful craft for all purposes.
