"Two Acres Wide"
Is this common everywhere, or just in my area? Client wants to cut out a small parcel from a larger tract. I ask how much do you want to cut out, and he says “I want it to be 2 acres wide and 4.75 acres deep”. I tell him that I’m not sure what he means, because acreage is a measure of area, not distance. He says, “Yes, I know”, but still doesn’t tell me any distances.. I actually was pretty sure what he meant, but I wanted him to clarify it.
He was asking for a 2-acre square parcel cut out along one property line, with a 2.75 acre parcel of the same width, next to the first tract, and along the same property line.
I seem to be getting things like that a lot lately. Then, there are also the people who think you’re crazy when you tell them a square acre is not exactly 210 feet wide.
