I give up
I think everyone has explained everything they can with the information available, in multiple wordings, and none of them have seemed to click with the original poster.
He sent me some pictures of things he’s found that he thinks are important to the search, and I see them as being like faces, bunnies, and ice cream cones in the clouds – whatever the mind wants to see.
I wish him well, but wouldn’t trade a day’s work for a share of anything he might find.

I was reading this and the previous thread. I am truly impressed with yours and many others’ willingness to help. I strongly believe this sets SurveyConnect apart from many other forums!
The patients you and others have shown to try to explain in different ways absolutely impressive. I am glad I found you all…:beer:Edit: I rarely say this…I think it is okay for you to give up at this time.

I think some of us have already given that day of work.:'(
It is somewhat reminiscent of explaining mechanical things to my bride.

Graphic Example
And to confuse @looking4aspot even more, usually we’re working with geodetic latitude which is not defined by using the center of the ‘earth’ aka the center of the datum’s ellipsoid.
Geodetic latitude is defined by the angle made by intersecting a perpendicular to the surface of the ellipsoid model and the equatorial plane.
I’m just one of those evil GIS people. Bwah-hah-hah! Seriously, I do coordinate systems and transformations at Esri.I give up
Go for it!
And, you’ve got to tell if you did, in fact, use a surveyor to mark the spot?
