Topcon Hiper Lite Plus + Set, GPS Receivers Base and Rover Set – GPS, L1, L2
The Item for sale is a Topcon Hiper Lite Plus GPS L1, L2 (GLONASS not enabled) base/rover set. I believe this set was purchased new mid-2000 by my father from which i inherited. I have worked with the units for about 6 years in a base/rover Real Time Kinematic (RTK) configuration and on the Florida DOT Real Time Network (RTN) with the Rover receiver. The internal radio is a VHF spread spectrum radio. I don’t think this is range limited, but when I run on a RTN, I usually use a VRS mount point (which seemed to work best), so It didn’t matter in my usage.Known Issues to note:- The base receiver does have some tracking issues. From time to time (especially it you don’t run it every day), it will forget its ephemeris which causes problems with satellite tracking. This can be corrected by clearing the NVRAM and waiting 30-60 minutes for it to reacquire a new ephemeris.Usually, I would check it the night before to do this if needed.
- I believe the batteries are original. I have never had them ever go close to going dead on me, but I never worked them very hard either, so your mileage may vary.
- The plastic outer sleeves on the antennas are broken, but repaired with tape. They don’t look good, but they function.
