Throwing Rocks at a Hornets Nest
Greetings Earthlings
I have joined the forum for I too measure stuff. Needing to measure stuff as inexpensively as possible and am in need of a GNSS receiver. After what I consider at least somewhat careful research, I think I’ve decided to go with a South brand unit. Specifically the South G-1 Plus.
I’m wondering if any of you have any experience with this brand and would be willing to share your thoughts on it.
The spec sheet lines up well with some of the top brands available and better than most.
So why are they so inexpensive? I have already heard the whole “Chinese stuff is inferior” reasoning, but that aside (I have loads of stuff that’s made in China, and so do you I’m sure) is there some fundamental difference that makes them so vastly different in price? Because the specs on the South Galaxy 1 Plus are equal to or better than Trimble. More features too. So what’s the deal??
