Sheet numbering
Posted by stan-dardparallel on February 22, 2019 at 5:01 pmAfter a decade or more of placing “Sheet 1 of 1” at the top of my single page Record of Surveys, I now have a correction from the county stating, at the county recorder’s insistence, that I must place “Sheet 1 of 1 Sheet” at the top of my map.
I feel “Sheet 1 of 1 Sheet” sounds funny and is improper English.
Thoughts?

That sounds like a bunch of Sheet.
Are they a Map Checker or an English Teacher?

It does sound silly, but pick your battles…..
This
Personally Iƒ??m not spending hundreds of dollars of lost billable time fighting a silly revision thatƒ??s going to take 45 seconds to make in my drawing template.

That format is not an option in Microsoft Word….
I believe that not numbering the first sheet in a one-page document is actually correct. That sheet contains all the information that is conveyed and therefore no reason to reference it.

Yeah, just do it.
I’m with Daniel, any number on a 1 sheet drawing is wrong. Leave it off next time and see what they do.

Slip something else on there that will piss them off please to satisfy my passive agressive tendencies.

There’s a long running advert on the local TV here, extolling the virtues of a certain brand of toilet paper over all others. The lovely lady presenting it runs through a number of technical issues such as 2-ply versus single-ply, roughness, etc, but the underlying selling point is economy and her closing remark is “You get the same sheet count”. Now to us Aussies, “sheet” sounds like something else relating to personal downstairs activity, which in the context of this advert sounds just as appropriate (if not even more so).

That’ll be: “Sheet A of 1 Sheet”.

I have plenty of Sheet 1 of 1 maps, but it is always in the Title Block,
Not to bring up the insane but we have counties around here that add a billing sheet as the official first page of any filed document so all your sheet numbering is wrong, but they don’t care. I could live with it, but they cannot even note the Tax or Property ID on their sheet, make it a really useless waste of paper. It can really confuse people because the official filed page number is not the first sheet of their deed or map.
