Registry research – an advantage to the old index books
The old index books were quite helpful in redirecting the searcher when looking at alternative names & spellings. As in “see ____”.
The computerized index at masslandrecords.com is not so kind. So far I have found indexing for one state agency as:
MWRA
Massachusetts Water Resources Authority
Mass Water Resources Authority and
Commonwealth of Massachusetts MWRA
with no helpful cross-linking whatsoever. The computer age, making life easier. Oh well, at least I don’t have to drive in to the big city for research very often now.
