Why are you allowing the Civil Engineers to take over your Land Surveying conference?
Why is it being held so far away in Holyoke?
Why can’t it be held when there is nicer weather?
Why is it so expensive?
Oooops…..Sorry………got carried away.;-)
Actually, I think it’s great that MALSCE allows neighboring state association members to attend at MALSCE member rates.
Here’s hoping for a successful conference.MALSCE Convention Oct 1 and 2- Angelo
Thanks Angelo!
But to answer your question about location; The Chapters rotate the convention amongst ourselves! Cape Cod will be hosting next years out here on the sand bar.
We do try to get everyone involved!

NY rotates also. On a smaller scale than the ACSM/ESRI situation, there are many downstate NY surveyors who will not travel to Buffalo or Rochester (myself included).
The same is true of many western NY surveyors who won’t come to Westchester or Mid Hudson Valley locales.
There has only been one NY State conference held in NYC, back in the early days of the association, (expenses and travel time being the biggest concerns), despite it being the most visited cities in the US after Orlando. In 1995, Nassau/Suffolk Chapter decided to host the conference at a resort in Bermuda, there was a tremendous uproar, very low attendance, and NSCE hasn’t hosted a conference since.
They seem to be heading towards a commitment to the Turning Stone Casino/Hotel near Utica for a more permanent location, but that hasn’t been settled yet, as far as I know.
NJ always has their conference at Bally’s in Atlantic City, but travel issues are less, due to the small size of the state. I must say, the NJ conference is the best run of any I have ever attended, as the hotel staff runs things, and there is a minimal amount of impromptu planning needed, as with rotating locales.

Angelo,There is no nicer weather in Massachusetts than early fall, foliage season you know.
Long time weekend visitor to Lenox, Lee and Kent CT……nothing like it in the fall, I agree.
