What it does right… It does very right. (With right settings it won’t lie)
What it does wrong, is its not alot like anything else out there. So, you do have to apply yourself to it.
This learning curve is an obstacle for some.
For the dedicated and willing to learn new concepts, surveyor, it’s the bomb.

I’ve been trying to get a demo, but my closest dealer is 500 miles away.

Which equipment do you have and what do you use it for? What best describes your area of practice?

How long have you been trying and where are you located?

I sent you and Jon a private message. Feel free to give me a call.

The frozen great plains of South Dakota, flyover states.

I swapped out my Trimble for a Javad a couple years ago and never looked back. The J-Field software (controller software) is not very intuitive to learn, but once you re-train your brain from everything you knew before, you’ll be ok. I don’t do any topo or construction staking, so I can’t really speak to how it does with that. I do almost exclusively boundary survey, so I’m only collecting a few points at each location. I operate in very dense canopy and the Javad gives me complete confidence in the points I collect because of the unique way it visualizes, processes and stores the data. More importantly, it gives me REPEATABLE precision, and it does all this automatically, with built-in redundancy and almost automatically filters out bad data from common GPS errors. I don’t know how to explain it effectively, you really just have to use it and you’ll see. You don’t feel like just a “button-pusher” when you’re using it.
