Controller rod mounting bracket rant
Last week I upgraded from a Trimble Yuma tablet to the new Trimble T7 controller. Controller with Access is great, but the bracket that mounts it to the rod is not an improvement. I’m 6′ tall and have always had a little trouble getting the older tablet tilted up enough to see it good and still see the rod bubble. All the rods I’ve had are the 4′ extendable variety, so that limits how high the controller can sit. I usually scoot the bubble up as high as possible, but it’s still hard to get it where I can see it around the controller. Plus, the length of the bracket limits how far up the screen will tilt, and the new one is even shorter. Depending on how bright the sun is shining, the reflection of my shirt also limits what I can see. For me, I need either the controller to be about 4-5 inches higher along with the bubble, or I need to be able to tilt it up further. Anybody else have this issue? Does somebody make a 5′ extendable rod? Am I going to have to mount a 1′ candy cane on the bottom to raise it all up? I find myself having to lean my head back to see whats on the screen. New R12 has the ebubble which helps with GPS, but not with the robot.
