CarlsonACAD
Posted by sergeant-schultz on January 23, 2019 at 3:27 pmTrying to switch Carlson from laptop to tablet for field use. Carlson 2012 / ACAD 2006, Win10. Copied over intact SUP & USER folders. GUI looks the same, but Carlson menus won’t load:
(scad_menuload “SURVEY”) no function definition: CF:SCADUTIL :error#2
that msg means nothing to me, maybe someone here can help?
Thanks!

I don’t believe Carlson pre-2016 is supported or can be run in Windows 10.

I guess I didn’t get that memo, since I’ve been running Carlson 2012 inside ACAD 2006 on 2 Win10 64 bit machines ever since Win10 rolled out (without problems), and I’ve been under the impression that Carlson support was free & 4ever.

I was unable to load Carlson CES on Win7 Pro 64, it is a 32bit program.
WinXP Pro will live on………….

Carlson Technical Support is free (“4ever is a mighty long time”). Copying the intact SUP & USER folders as previously cited would generally work if:
- the operating system is the same/similar between the two computers (e.g. going from Windows XP to Windows 10 would cause issues because Microsoft switched from “Documents and Settings” to a local roaming profile), and,
- the username sign-in profile is the same between the two computers (e.g. going from sign-in of “Admin” to sign-in of “Sergeant Schultz” would cause problems because some path information might be found in some of the supporting files), and,
- the CAD program being used is the same between the two computers (e.g. going from ACAD 2006 to IntelliCAD would cause problems because there could be unexpected configuration issues that need to be addressed), and,
- the serial number of the Carlson Software program still permits installation to the new computer (subject to the terms of the Carlson End User License Agreement [EULA]).
Since Carlson Technical Support is free, my suggestion is to contact them with your Carlson serial number (Help — About Carlson — [Change] Registration), Carlson build number (also found under Help — About Carlson) and desired CAD configuration so they can determine the best course of action for you.
