CARLSON Test codes
Posted by mag-eye on March 31, 2017 at 1:32 pmAnybody know of a way to have carlson auto draw all your codes from field to finish.
Ive been setting up a code table and was looking to make sure every code was setup correctly.

I exported my codes to a csv in excel and then assigned coordinates for them

Thanks ATS. I was hoping for a way to not have to type in coords. i have over a hundred codes

when you are in excel, just put coords, 500,500 and 500, 600 for example, then just drag them down so you don;t have to actually type all coords.

Row 1 column 1 pt# column 2 0 column 3 0 column 4
Row 2 column 1 = a1+1 column 2 a2 +100 column 3 0 column 4 0
Copy columns 1 to 4 down as many rows as you have descriptions then use the codes for that you pasted in excel for column 5 -
No need for a formula really, you can just extend the cells down, and if you select more than one cell, it recognizes the pattern and populates as you drag.

Exactly what I used to do when I used carlson. Each line feature had a begin point and end point, then I can check lines and line types as well.

My lost had every code doubled in the x, with the next pair at the next y. I doubled all my symbols and plain points, but also drew a line for every pair with a line.
Also, the FLD file is a text file with | as a delimiter. Make a few various codes, put that into excel and proliferate your codes without a massive dialogue for each one.

We do not use codes to end the linework. It just stops at the last feature and picks back up when a “B space” appears

Do you have a .fld setup in Survey or a .fcl in the collector? Lately on small jobs I’ve just exported the .dxf from the collector and open in survey, save as a .dwg, job is drawn with all the right line properties. Haven’t setup for symbols yet, the scaling issues get me furious.
