@stlsurveyor yeah you can hide a body in the s series case. I always told people traversing in the woods get a soft pack for them for those days. The s series gun is not bad but the case yellow hard one is huge. I could pack my lunch the other guys extra water a snack all in a soft case and it would still be less bulky and heavy.
Just give this guy a machete…
I hope everyone has a great day; I know I will!I was stung 17 times by yellow jackets this year. I ran the s5 like a regular total station well it was still in robotic mode with the multi track. I would just point it towards the crew chief and it would lock. I would oick holes in the thickness like old days and tell im where to place prism like put it at your left eye ball or belt loop right side. And it worked well. As soon as he would hollar i would run away from the gun and yellow jackets. Then he would say i need a shot. I would run back get him locked and away i ran. My left earlobe or as festus hagan sais the little hangy down part. Was swole up. It was in thick american holly trees and hardwoods so kinda having a helper that has ran a regular as stl surveyor sais lockdowns gun. And has worked you can kinda get the best of both worlds as sometimes as soon as you point the gun it locks to the mt1000. Sometimes find a hole. But don??t set up over a yellow jackets nest. It is no fun. ????. But the other guy was allergic and i was to tired to set another point and just wanted the last shots done. I was being as easy as i could but those suckers somehow always find my ear lobe.

I think I would choose to struggle with the guidelights and joystick to use it robotically in the woods over getting stung by yellow jackets that many times. I’d only be getting stung during setup and take down. Lol.
I’ve always been extra cautious since I accidentally jumped in a bumblebee nest in our neighbors barns hayloft when I was about 7 years old.
Everytime we would go to use our old 78 Chevy field truck i would pop the hood (to boost it) and jump back and let the paper wasps disperse. Then sneak back in with the booster cables.
@350rocketmike oh that was over different days. Not all at once. That was one of the worst though. I had been hit so many times this year from cutting hay and surveying i just said the heck with it. The s5 with mt1000 will usually lock very easy it??s getting the distance thats the issue sometimes. But I usually slowly raise and lower it while locked and plumb left and right till distance is in it. I keep a thick long sleeve shirt during summer in my day bag just for that. They can??t sting through it. Its the head face and ears that are the worst. Especially the hangy down part. I usually swat them away. Once they are settled down and you ease along its not bad one or two will get after you. Its the swarm of them all angry and no escape on a tractor seat thats the worst. If you stop to soon you have to go through it all over itse getting far enough away from the whole and getting tractor and mower all shut down until they settle back down is the worst.
