I am in Dallas with my better half, and stopped at the Starbucks in the mall while she is doing some shopping. I logged onto their WiFi and noticed that they call it Google Starbucks. This is the fastest internet I have come across. Apparently Google is looking to expand their fiber network to the DFW area. I suspect that they are trying to get us hooked on HIGH SPEED internet. I checked my email and downloaded over 100 emails in less than 30 seconds.

Probably testing this: https://fiber.google.com/about/

It is already installed in Austin and San Antonio, and will be in FL soon. Google stock is a winner. 😉

Wow, that's nice, well, until I read this:

"$299 per month with free installation, no contracts and no cancellation fees."

Way way way out of my budget! B-)

Over 10yrs ago when in Vietnam in a coffee shop internet hubs I found 100mps lan hookups for pennies an hour.
A page would load in an instant and long emails with pictures were sent in a flash.
Here at home I was stuck with dial up that maxed out on a best day at 48kps.

One disadvantage of using a public wifi connection is that your data is traveling thru a hub that keeps record of all your sent and received information and there is a good chance that it is under attack by people trying to steal identity information.
