Wonder how much damage its caused at home - the office here sure wobbled

The nice thing about tornadoes is that most people can see them coming or at least hear warnings before they hit. I can't imagine living somewhere prone to earthquakes that happen with essentially no notice whatsoever.

But are you far enough from New Madrid?

"FEMA warned that a serious earthquake in the New Madrid Seismic Zone could result in "the highest economic losses due to a natural disaster in the United States," further predicting "widespread and catastrophic" damage across Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, and particularly Tennessee."

No Thanks,
I will take the snow storms of Northern Michigan. No earth quakes, No hurricanes, No tornadoes, just lots pretty snow flakes.

Too cool, another past project. I supervised crews that set vertical control from Cairo, Il. to W.Helena, Arkansas, with type A monuments set for longterm seismic monitoring every 5 miles. Some of them went 130' before we hit refusal. Regular type F's were set every mile along the levees for reference datum in the event of flood fights, as well as gauges set riverside. Over 900 miles of 3-wire levels, great job with some of the best COE inspectors I've had the pleasure to work beside, great memories. Two of my co-workers were born and raised in New Madrid.
