They have a loss to an unranked 6-5 team, yet they are ahead of
Penn State 9-2
TCU 9-2
Nebraska 8-3
Notre Dame 8-3
Georgia Tech 8-3
Paul in PA
Well, scratch TCU from that list because Baylor beat them earlier this year.
It's Called Strength of Schedule
Notre Dame, for example has only played one ranked team...and they lost that one.
Penn State has only played two ranked teams and lost to both.
Baylor's losses have come to teams ranked as high as #2, #8 and #15 at some point during the season. Then they knocked off #5. Not too shabby.
Baylor? I never liked colleges when you can't tell what state they are from by their name. Seems kind of dysfunctional or something.
Obviously, I don't know and I didn't bother to google it. I've heard of them but could care less about their ranking. But since Paul in PA seems bothered by their status, I hope they lose. PA has enough problems these days and we don't need a fellow beerlegger getting stressed out, now do we...:-P
Go Spartans.....;-)
And Baylor has the best Player in the US.
Might have something to do with that win over highly ranked Oklahoma.

...and the fact that they have the fourth toughest schedule in the nation behind Alabama, LSU and Kansas State.
Alabama did not have a very tough schedule at all except for LSU and Arkansas. I would move them down several notches in the polls for that reason alone.

Depends on whose list you look at.

They both have Baylor in the Top 10 though.
Son of a gun. Nine of the first 13 are Big 12 teams. Iowa State then comes in #16. This is based on the second link. For some reason, I can not get the gberatings link to open.
Yeah the Big 12 was a tough conference to play in this year.
Finally, got the gbe link to open. They have Alabama at #32, LSU at #36 and Arkansas at #81. Radically different from Alabama being #1 and LSU being #2 in the other link.
