Here's a vintage motorcycle question. This is a photo taken somewhere around the far northern tip of Northern Ireland. The good looking rider is one M.J. McNeilly. What is the make, model, and year of the bike? (Merlin Reed is disqualified from this one. :>)

There are some features of the machine that are unique to that model. I won't spoil it, but the centerstand (clipped to the rear fender), the high headlamp, the tank shifter, springer front end, and the angle of the front fender braces are pretty good clues.

Well, then how about a 1939 Velocette?

The only scooters I remember with a high mounted head lamp were Indians or Vincents. That looks like neither. Got me stumped, and I collect old British Pieces O'Crap.

Sorry, missed this guess. No, it's not a Velocette. Can you make out the forward-leaning cylinder in the photo?

Here's another clue

Here's another clue. This is the same model (without the Brooklands-style silencer on Ms. McNeilly's machine), also with women on it. That last bit isn't a clue, BTW. :>

Here's another clue

'36 RE? (The inspection plate for the lifters has got me confused. Don't remember anything like that)

I'll bet if you compare the details shown in the above photos to that of the machine your dad rode, you'll see some significant differences.

1931 Triumph NSD

Okay, since the guessers seem to be ready for an answer, I think it's a 1931 Triumph NSD.
