Last year, he was in the hospital for his bone marrow transplant and did not get to celebrate his April 8th birthday. His younger sister, who has a birthday 3 days later, also did not have a birthday due to her brother being in the hospital. This year he has been in and out of the childrens hospital ICU due to complications from his transplant. He almost died 3-4 times. The family has almost no funds for the extra expenses that come up with hospital stays, etc...
Last year, we surprised the kids and drove out to visit them and took them to dinner and dessert in "Yoshi", Wendells Mustang. They've been asking ever since to go for another ride. But, with kiddo too sick, he cannot even get into the car. ???¦?ÿ
So... I asked a few of my friends if they wanted to help us throw something together for these kids for their birthday this year. Then, Wendell asked his Mustang Club if they'd be interested in doing a "Birthday Cruise-By". Well, guess what...They sure were! The founder of the Mustang Club helped organize a drive by cruise for these kids! We rounded up about 20+ Mustangs, 1 Corvette, 1 Jeep, and 1 USPS Truck who happened to merge into the pack and we did a sneak attack! The kids had NO IDEA we we're coming!! Both of their jaws hit the floor when we pulled up in Yoshi!! ?????ÿ
Their mom knew, of course, because I coordinated with her 4 weeks ago to get it all figured out. Anyhow...We wound up driving from Salem, Oregon, to Lincoln City, Oregon. We had a lot of lookie loos along the route! Here's some photos! And...here is the message I posted to Wendells Mustang Club. -Angel
