Saw that earlier, not often you have video of an accident, they are already saying too much speed, I agree it looks that way too.
SHG
Spanish news agency Efe and national daily El Pais cited sources within the investigation as saying that the driver had said the train was going at about 190 kilometers per hour, and that the limit on that curve was 80 kilometers per hour (50 mph.)
So sad. It also says the driver had been with the company for 30 years and driving the last 10. This happen at the end of a 6 hour train ride, wonder if he was awake? So sad.
The paper I read every morning says that the driver's facebook page bragged about him speeding.
Mr. Garzon's Facebook page, deleted late Thursday morning, included a photograph and exchanges that portrayed a taste for speed, and perhaps even recklessness. One photo posted in March 2012 showed a speedometer needle stuck at 200 kilometers per hour (124 mph) and his giddy remark: "I'm at the limit and I can't go any faster or they will give me a fine."
Investigation focuses on driver
I am not sure why they would let the driver control the speed rather than have it automated. Or have it automated and let him disengage if necessary.
Last year I was on a train from Madrid to Barcelona. I took a picture of the display board at the front of the car when we went above 300 km/hr.
It was pretty smooth, but there was a little bit of vibration, as you can see from the photo.
and here I thought it was your nerves of jello that caused the blur 🙂
