I just got off the phone with him a while ago.
He is having a rather large mass removed from his left wrist tomorrow and is to be an all day event.
I believe he calls it a "mohs" surgery and he has had several in the past.
He says this one is going to be bad and may lose the use of his left hand.
I do know he is not at all new to having skin cancers removed over the past 30 or so years.
Needless to say given the year's events with the death of my Mother, I am concerned - as is he.
He asked if I could tell "I'm a little perturbed?" I said no more than usual. Then he proceeded to tell me of this.
However, in his deadpan, cynical way he managed to mention he was going to find his cleanest pair of dirty underwear to wear before they head out. It's somewhere down around Carbondale, IL I think and he has to be there by 0800 hours. Jim and family live in Taylorville, IL so that's going to be a fairly decent ride.
I love him to death. He is the closest connection to Mom's side of the family I have left. Of course I'm still in contact with the other siblings but he is like the big brother I never had to admire. Kind of funny, my Dad treated him like his little brother he never had when he was courtin Mom.
I think he'll be OK but sure wouldn't mind some prayer for him. I would sure hate to see him lose the use of either hand. He is a first order wood worker when he has the strength. He was diagnosed with systemic mastocytosis many years ago and generally doesn't have the strength or "awakeness" to do much of anything anymore.
Thanks and thanks for letting me bend the ear here.

prayers....
Prayers for your uncle sent. See below.
I feel your pain and heartache. Just lost another loved one to Melanoma on 10/26/13. I'm still having a hard time with it. :'(
That's 2 dead, 1 terminal, and 1 loved one recovering this year from cancers. I don't "hate" many things, but cancer is one of those things that I do. :pissed:
