Saw a list yesterday of the 27 people known to be residents of Oklahoma who are at least 101 years of age.?ÿ The good news is that I didn't find you on the list. ???? ?????ÿ ?ÿIn fact, there was no one named Cash on the list of about 20 women and seven men whose ages ranged from 101 to 107.?ÿ There was a Dorothy (your surname) in Pittsburg County listed. (Note to others:?ÿ There is no 'h' on the end of Pittsburg, just like the Pittsburg in Kansas.)

I worked with an engineer from PA a number of years ago.?ÿ He hailed from Pittsburgh, PA.?ÿ His dog's name was Steeler.?ÿ He was truly appalled at our spelling down here.?ÿ We were working on some projects in McAlester, OK (Pittsburg Co.) and the spelling came up at least twice a day for a year.
To differentiate between the county and his hometown I always emphasized an H sound at the end of his homwtown's name.?ÿ Something like Pitts'burg'-huh.?ÿ I don't know if he appreciated it or not, but I had a lot fun with it.
Don't get me started on spelling in Texas.
Bourne = Burny or Bernie
Gruene = Green
Bexar = Bear
To give a few examples.
