Anybody out there fans of the series?
I watched the whole first year in one day a few weeks back and loved it.
I've been trying to watch the new season, but have been limited.
I think it is great the way the highlight the shooting sports.
I love that show. My cousins, (both marines) griped about how neither of the first group could shoot. I informed them that they weren't there doing it and neither of them were world class shooters or marine snipers. They were less than impressed with my lack of their shooting prowess.
Either way, sometimes it looks weird, but I give them the BOTD about it.
Sometimes it's WAY COOL!
I sorta like it and especially the shooting part. Not so much all the drama that they waste a lot of the show on though.
I think a lot of us could do as well as some of the shooters on some of the ranges though. I know that I could.

Gotta go with Deral on that one. Way too much drama, but otherwise a very enjoyable show.
I'll tell you what, the "drama" is the main reason my wife watches it with me.
I like the "Survivor" type challenges. Colby does a respectable job as host.
Maybe they are hamstrung by their respective disciplines, I haven't been impressed by their collective abilities. The pistol challenges are 15-30 feet...not yards, but feet.
The shooting off a zip line was pretty cool.

Last years FIRST elimination challenge was a 200, 400 and 600 yard shot with a rifle. Pistols be damned, but those aren't for the faint of heart.
Think you have it right Squinty. Shooting the same firearm from the same position and range can develop muscle memory which will cause problems when encountering different weapons and conditions. Professional shooters with high skills in limited events may not be good all round shooters. However all should know what a good sight picture is and have good trigger control along with hand and eye coordination. I watched the show last year but get tired of all of the social drama going on, probably miss a few shows this year.
jud
I saw Aethena get dropped. I'm suprised she lasted through 2 shows before getting the boot. She never hit a single target that I saw. You would expect more (and they did) out of a 3-time world champion.
For some reason I just pictured Danny Glover in Lethal Weapon, the way he held his revolver.
Trigger finger distance, from the face, was about the same with the pistol as it would be held for a rifle.
It was almost as bad as "actors" that hold their pistol sideways.
History?
They started taking a tangent showing movies like Patton and Pearl Harbor, but I think they are back on track with this show.
I really like the show but I wish they would stick to firearms/archery. Last season they had slingshots, throwing knives, etc.
I also like Sons of Guns on Discovery. Alaska Gold Rush is good too.
History Channel...
Dont laugh at me but I like the Modern Marvels show. Especially one in particular that aired that my husband so graciously DVDed for me. 😉
I love that show. I don't have or make the time to watch them live, but I record it and catch up later. I was pretty stoked to see Ian win the first one, he had some great all around skills including, playing the game. Kelly was definitely a skilled marksman as well even though his youthful attitude set most people off.
I haven't seen the first two episodes of this season yet but they are recorded so maybe this weekend.:good:
