For those of you out there thinking of going to Alaska, just want you to know you'll have some company! Photo was taken on Kodiak few years back by a geologist flying to a site along the coast. The bears are feeding on a whale carcass. The geologist who took the picture said there were at least as many bears as you see up on the hillside. While out that way last year elk hunting, was shadowed by a ten footer we named 'Bread Truck'. He never gave us any grief but sure had me puckered up a few times.

WOW! great pic. I remember being near Larsen Bay and the crew chiefs sent us out to run some line. we had a bear just out of sight moving along with us, chuffing and puffing. that was pretty scary, since we had no idea where he was for sure. stressful!!
