My left wrist was sore yesterday from all that shale bar driving digging my perc tests on Thursday. I iced it down Thursday night after I returned from a stint as Santa Claus at a children's shelter. It was tender yesterday but I was carrying a 5 gallon bucket in each hand, plus I was out in the cold. Ice, wrist wrap between icing and a sling because it throbs when my arm hangs down. Nothing displaced to be noticed and I have full joint movement, but my body says please don't do that. Pain is the signal that you can't do that.

Anyway I am off to do a septic tank inspection for the house my son is buying. I will shortly inform him he is digging the lid out by his lonesome self. Based on my inspection he may require the seller pay someone else for the full deal. Sure hope it does not need pumping.

Pain is a good thing. It lets you know when to stop whatever you are doing. A good doctor should tell you that.

As to the septic tank... I used to just put a pack of regular yeast down the toilet once a month. I never a problem and it never needed pumping out.

Take it easy Paul.

Any kind of "itis" hurts (tendonitis, arthritis...etc)...just one of "those" things about getting old.

Actually, when I read the title of the post I was guessing your wife asked, "Does this dress make my butt look big?"...

And after your answer, you had to fend blows off with your forearm!

Merry Christmas and hope your arm gets back to normal.

I always carry a sling with me so in case something involving septic tank inspection comes up, I'm ready. Just kidding. Faking injuries is bad karma. We'll have enough real injuries and disabilities in our lives where we wish we could dig out a septic tank lid.

pumping septic tanks

The conventional wisdom around here is to pump a septic tank every two years; although I pump mine every 5 years or so. If the solids built up in the tank and exit to the leach field, then you have a problem measured in thousands of dollars rather then hundreds of dollars.

Also, our systems are generally designed with something like a PolyLok filter on the outlet of the septic tank to prevent grease from entering the field. Grease & latex paint (washing paint brushes) are two things that can cause a system to fail prematurely.

Expect the pain to last awhile. Wrist injuries can take a long time to heal. I sprained my wrist in a minor motorcycle accident...or actually a near accident. Went to cross a road side ditch full of weeds and discovered a recessed culvert inlet. Did not crash, but absorbed all of the impact with the arms. That was early this summer. Still hurts off and on.
