Tis the season for music to be everywhere. There must be thousands of songs we have all heard that only appear about this time of year.
Been humming/singing All I Want for Christmas is You and I'll Be Home for Christmas for the past several days.....over and over and over and over and........ WARNING, WILL ROBINSON, DANGER, DANGER
(Gotta be a geezer to get understand)
I love almost all of the songs of the season. Everything from Silent Night to Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer. Even White Trash Christmas.
If I hear "Grandma got run over by a reindeer" one more time my head will implode.
If I hear "Grandma got run over by a reindeer" one more time my head will implode.
Now you went and done it......................

Two hours of the antidote to "Grandma got run over by a reindeer":

Having spent half a year of my generally misspent university education on exchange at at Keble College, Lesson and Carols at Kings College is the only thing at Cambridge that I will concede is superior to Oxford 🙂
Or for the modernist (1960 is as modern as I go)

And now for a little something different to cleanse your palate before moving on to the main course.

Please note that I'm trying to be a good boy as Christmas approaches. I DID NOT link to Mariah Carey singing All I Want For Christmas is Jews.
Also, please note that I did not provide a link to the Youtube treat Peanut's 'Twas the Night Before Christmas - Jeff Dunham.
Thanks HC, you made my day, beleive me I WILL reciprocate. 😉
Reciprocating can be harmful to old geezers so it should be done in moderation and at a slow pace.
Ya might as well add "Stairway to Heaven" to the list, it's only been played 78 trillion gazillion times.
For the Elvis fans.........warning, the pretty young girls shown are now somebody's great-grandma (1968 to 2015 = 47 years)

Nothing says peace on earth like the lyrics:
"You scumbag, you maggot
You cheap lousy f@ggot
Happy christmas your arse
I pray god it's our last"

Here's the rest of the story for ol' Gayla Peevey, the little girl that sang the "Hippopotamus" song. Originally from Okie City, Gayla was a fixture on the local tv scene here as a pre-teen singing sensation. The family moved around a lot and eventually went to "Calley-fournee" where Gayla recorded a number of songs, the Hippo song being one of them. Her parents were interested in capitalizing on her singing talents.
They actually moved back to OKC to give the kids a little more "normal" childhood, but it back-fired. Her school rooms were always interrupted by folks wanting to come in and visit. They actually moved back to San Diego to become 'obscure'. All the hub-bub scared Gayla away from a promising professional singing career (a fella named Mitch Miller had her on his show several times).
We know Gayla, now 72, from friends. Money Penny and I are good friends with her cousin, who has lived her whole life in OK. The last time she was in town we visited and her classic car-collecting husband, Cliff, & I sat and jawed over his restored '55 convertible Ford "Vicky". That's been about three years. Cliff wasn't well at the time and I've wondered how he made out since then.
Gayla has always been a "girl next door" kind of person and will readily admit she's happy stardom passed her by...her biggest disappointment being in the sixties when "American" pop music gave way to the British invasion and eventually the psychedelic...
