5061

There is a strong tendency to restrict thinking to 3 digits with 806

I can make a 998.

Depends on what rules you impose. I ASSUMED the number had to be on one line in the same size figures, thus ruling out 50611 with short 1's.

But how about

11 superscript 506 ?

If you insist on usual proportions for the digits, then?ÿ

506 superscript 11

I can make a 998.

Better than my 3-digit answer, but no cigar. See my following posts.

Eddycreek has improved the one-line answer to 8118, but combining with the exponent idea gives

11 superscript 5118

or if you enforce digit size then

5118 superscript 11

@dave-lindell

That was my answer, also.?ÿ Did not consider more than four digits or superscripts, etc.

Used to subscribe to GAMES magazine.?ÿ That thing would drive you nuts, just like this problem.?ÿ There is an obvious answer and then there is a twisted Bizarro-world answer.

Has anyone tried to see what you can do if you flop it upside down first?

Jobs to avoid.?ÿ The last one on the list, pages 47-50, is architect because so much of what architects do can be done by those who are not licensed.?ÿ At least, that is the claim made in this report.?ÿ With that logic, I wonder how they missed surveying.

Again, depends on the rules, but increases the exponent versions.

None of y'all are even close. ?????ÿ

It's a 3 digit number obtained by moving TWO matches.

Rules change: the original post did not specify 3 digits.

I don't see how you can get more than 998 with three digits.

I moved the bottom horizontal of the five and turned it vertical to close the upper right to make a 9.?ÿ Then I turned the lower left vertical of the zero horizontal and placed it in the middle to make a 9.

Sticking to the rules, both stated and implied, the answer is 980.
