As far as I'm concerned there are two real secrets to taking photos that will be worth keeping. The first is the light. The way that the scene is lighted and the effect of cast shadows is important. Then there is the real secret: when you see the photo, take the photo.
I was driving off for a day of fieldwork fun along the bladed dirt roads of Wilbarger and Foard Counties today, when something so amazing caught my eye in Vernon that I had to circle the block for a photo. This was before 8 AM and the eastern sun was lighting up the interior of a storefront on Main Street. Sometimes, you don't need a tardis for time travel.
