Interesting layout. Quite of bit of open space.

A little over 20 years ago, I saw a somewhat similar layout of a subdivision in Connecticut. Little clusters of houses around a central cul-de-sac. Though the house layout did not form circles and there was a bit less open spaces. Interesting concept.

I have to wonder if the manicured open space is really "open space." here it has to reamin undisturbed and used for only passive recreation...

That is because you live in the "Peoples Republic of Taxachussetts" and not in the "Land of the Free", like most of the rest of us. Of course living in "Kalifornicatia" is just as bad.
