We were driving across Phillips County in far northern Kansas on Wednesday when we passed a local lady with a personalized licensed plate. Kansas recently changed the rules on personalized plates such that only one of any given design could appear in the entire state. Prior to that there could be identical plates for different counties as the county designation is on every plate (105 counties). I was quite confused when I noted the driver was a Caucasian lady over 60 years of age. The tag read "OBAMA".

Truth is stranger than fiction.

wow, Kansas has 105 counties. California has 52 but a couple are very large (San Bernardino, Kern and Riverside each exceed the size of some Eastern States).

That really wouldn't surprise me here where I live.

Wouldn't surprise me anywhere.

Contrary to those who seek to create strong polarization, e.g. Beck, Limbaugh et al, the country's a lot more "purple" than red or blue.

There are always pockets of outspoken liberalism and conservatism no matter where you go in this great country of ours, along with a silent majority which spans the entire spectrum.

The 2008 election:
