Why is it we get a 5sf surface in the house but her stuff is piled everywhere?

Because that's what the 'rule book' says.
Now I've never seen this rule book. Apparently one of the rules within its binding is that no male may ever peer into said book...
We compromised - I have my man-cave, and she has her she-shed. But, they are outbuildings. You're right - inside, I only have 5 sf.

When you figure that out by all means let me know. SWMBO's closet could sleep 4 if all the crap in there (which she dosen't wear but for some crazed reason insists on keeping) was given to Goodwill. 😉

My dear wife has her "closet of memories"....full of good clothes that she has 'outgrown' over the years. Actually asking a woman "why" they keep them can really get down into some deep dark Gestalt therapy...
Near as I can figure women keep their "small" clothes hidden in the closet just to verify that they were once a size 4. It's tangible physical evidence, probably with photos to boot. Removing said clothing might 'break' a chain of feminine cognition women need as a part of their psyche. My suggestion to all males: back away slowly...keep your eyes low and don't make any quick movements; much like you would back away from a wild beast in the jungle..
(I'm not pointing fingers, either. I've got a lot of clothes that have shrunk over time, too.)

I would put the buzz on before going to sleep.
