This town's City Hall is Bob's Bar.
One thin about small towns is that most everyone knows who did that.
Septic tanks are pricey and can be converted into sediment tanks, brown water from shower and sinks and other filtering of fresh water discharge.
A public notice search at the local news paper or library old uncover some onfo.
Lawyer up big time.

And call the local newspaper... you probably are not the only one.
It could be a mitsake, where they were supposed to get the one NEXT DOOR, but got yours?
I mean, surveyors have surveyed the wrong lot before...
No worries Natester, sooner or later a surveyor will get blamed. 😉

I know how to look up sanitation regulations, no need to Lawyer up until it appears we're going to Court. From what I've researched so far a Certified Notice is required and a follow-up hearing if the County Sanitation directed it to be removed. I haven't gotten either of those. I've got a call into the County Sanitarian, but they are notoriously hard to make contact with.

Looking forward to the summary of that conversation.
Any chance your property falls within the sewer district boundary listed on page G5 of this plan set? If so, you may be SOL (literally and figuratively). If not, someone has some 'splainin to do.

I'm sure I'm in the Sewer District Boundary. Are they removeing every septic tank in the sewer district?

I don't know. I don't work for RPA, I just remember seeing the plan set when I put a bid together for a dirt contractor. My guess is, if you are in the sewer district boundary, the district by law can enter and remove septic tanks. I would be interested to see what you find out.

I talked to the County Sanitarian this morning. They know nothing about the Town removing septic tanks. The Sewer Plans only address removing septic tanks when sewer line connections are made. Sounds to me like there is miscommunication between the Contractor and the sewer board as to who will and who won't be connecting to the sewer system. The Contractor seems a little overzealous in removing tanks since the contract States they are to be decommissioned when the sewer is connected. The Sewage Treatment Plant is a ways from being completed.
In short the County Sanitarian didn't know squat what was going on.
Next stop is the Sewer Board Chairman.

Keep on, keeping on, and also thanks for keeping us posted. I am looking forward to a happy ending to this story.
Well my best hope for a happy ending is a sewer stubout with cleanout. Since I'm located in the Flood plain building a permanent structure could be another problem. My plan currently is to try and work it out with the Contractor. The least amount of bureurocrats the better.
Get the town involved in an attempt to get a stub out on the new system and they will likely turn you down. Then your on their radar. They might put a lien on the property for installing a "new" tank without permits. Or maybe since they are at fault, they look the other way.
Maybe the tank just needs to magically show back up with a rectangle of fresh dirt surrounding it?

Well oops OMG. I got ahold of the Contractor's Project Manager today. They screwed up. Now they are going to install a new sewer stub where ever I want it. I have to go up tomorrow and show them where to put the stub. Bad part of the story is they'll be sending me a bill every month for $29 for a sewer fee.
The little town where I had an old house that I rented out stopped charging the sewer fee when I disconnected from the water line. No input, no output.
Actually, I disconnected from all utilities and intend to raze the old house and garage one of these days.
That sewer fee was $35 per month. The minimum water bill was $12.50. Output cost three times the cost of input.
[SARCASM]So they are not going to bill you directly for the removal, just a monthly fee forever....OUCH![/SARCASM]
I suppose this means that they won't let you hook up your trailer next year.

That's because of the additions you make using the water. 😉
