We recently acquired two Locus receivers. I have never used these before. Collecting the data is simple, but I could use some opinions/advice/suggestions for processing my data.
I have v 1.1 of the processing software. I assume this software is no longer supported so getting updated is probably out of the question.
Is there a way to get newer gelid models into this software, 96 is the newest in the software! I haven't seen any obvious options.
Are there any good free/cheap L1 processors I should consider?
Thanks in advance for your help.
You can download any version of the various Ashtech L1 processors you want from the Ashtech FTP site for free. (Note, the Locus was a shared product between Ashtech and Sokkia)
-Locus Processor
-Ashtech Solutions
-GNSS
Ashtech solutions requires a patch to run, which is also on the FTP site. GNSS is the latest version, with the newer Geoids included, but has download problems. You can get around those problems by downloading in Locus processor and processing in GNSS.

You can find Processor and Solutions under "older products".
Kevin,
My friend has 3 Locus receivers, and we use them in conjunction with my Hipers and PM3 units.
He has a Windows 7 laptop I believe, and we could never get them to download to it after trying several serial to USB converters, etc.
We ended up buying two (one each), basic Dell laptops with Windows XP on them. This is pretty much all we use them for to keep them clean and uncorrupted. Something about the infared receiver would not tale to the newer laptop.
Good luck
The Pseudo Ranger:
Thanks for the link . . . I'd long forgotten about the site . . .
I use the GNSS software for my PM2's and notice the version Ashtech has on the FTP site appears to be newer.
It's been a long time, but it appears that everything has to be downloaded separately, which is okay.
BUT, some of the *.ini files evidently have strange characters that will not save from notebook.
If anyone knows how to get these *.ini files to save, I'd appreciate it.
In particular, I'm looking at "0019.ini", and any other files that also have strange characters.
In fact, if anyone knows of an "easier", way to download the whole shootin match for GNSS, it would be helpful.....
Thanks
Thanks for the replies everybody. I will take a look at the FTP site
I had to do the same thing... laptop with XP. He must have the download working if he's processing, but the Win7 upgrade warning is good advice.
