It is always nice to see a very old survey marker in a public place that has not been molested.

There are some on here who no doubt have seen this one before.
Here is a landmark that can be seen from this monument.

Grandson's graduation from basic training has brought us to this region... very nice country. Anyone know where we're at?

Something about that cap disturbs me. I think its the extra dimple that has been modified to look like an exclamation mark.

I think it's real close to this place:

N34 43 57
W98 36 02

It is beautiful country. Hope you enjoyed it.

You got it! We have had a great time and we are heading out the door to graduation right now. Darn cell ran out of power before I could get photos of the massive benchmark on top of Mt Scott, which is another nearby wonder! Great country..

If you get a chance

The Great Spirit would be happy if you visited this place and honored a true warrior:

N34 41 50
W98 22 14

It's on the east side of the Post and highway. Kinda hard to find, but worth it.

Goyaa?é [kòjà????] "one who yawns" English pronunciation close to Goyahkla.

Born a Bedonkohe (Bu-donka-donk) Apache he married into the Chiricahua Apache Tribe. I believe he only dealt with the yellow-eyes because he was forced to. A truly great leader that always had the survival of his People as his first priority.

One of his many treaties with the U.S. included, of all things, an automobile (WTF!?):

Which inspired Mike Murphey to write and record "Geronimo's Cadillac". I believe Uncle Hoyt recorded it also.

The museums and the old Fort parade square are worth the time spent. Enjoy!

If you get a chance

Well, we are in Dallas now. My neice is getting married tomorrow so I didn't see your post in time. Maybe we will get a second chance... my next grandson says he is going to follow in his brother's footsteps in a year. After graduation, the landmark Nick most wanted to see was Olive Garden... no big surprise there.
