Army Accepts Invite To The Armed Forces Bowl

Verus a team from Conference USA. At 6-5 this is the first year Army is bowl eligible since 1946. Most likely to be 6-6 after the Army Navy game but it will not be a blowout.

I think they should wear the camo helmets, to both games.

Paul,

You should do a little better research.

Bunch of Cowards

In bowl games, the SEC verse Big 12 was 2-0 in 2008 and 3-0 in 2009 ... including two wins in the BCS national championship game ...

Roger that. It's just when I went looking that the 1946 year popped up as a banner year also...

Sorry for the abrasiveness :-$

I also agree that they should wear the camo uni's also... I'm a big fan of all the service academies.

Dangerous assumption. S.C. played Auburn tough the first time they matched up, and frankly Chizik just outclocked Spurrier, won't happen again.

What Abrasiveness, You Pointed Out An Error

The article on Army accepting the bowl bid indicated 1996. The 4 key is nowhere near the 9 key so it was some digital disconnection of sorts.

Army was National Champion in 1914, 1944 and 1945 without going to a bowl game, Navy has never been National Champion.

I saw the 1961 or 62 Army-Navy game at Philadelphia's Municial Stadium, later renamed JFK Stadium. My uncle (Navy submariner in WW II) took me to the game. We sat in the North End zone bleachers and the highlight of the game was JFK crossing the field from the Army side (East) to the Navy side (West) at halftime. Over the years I got to several Lehigh-Army football games at the Academy but never got to a Lehigh-Navy game. Saw them both wrestle at Lehigh several times.
